I cannot believe it's been six months since I've sat down to write a blog post! I know it's something I've neglected, but with the end of the year here and the new year practically starting I thought now would be the perfect time to sit down and get a much needed blog post out to you all.
The decade has nearly come to an end, and as I reflected on some of the things I achieved throughout that time. I didn't really think I'd done that much but as I sat down to write out major things I realised, I've actually done a lot. Now this is just a condensed list, but these are my highlights for the last decade: I graduated from high school, I started a uni degree only to change it, I graduated from uni, I had my first major surgery, I fell down a set of stairs (lol), I got 3 tattoos, I gained friends, I lost friends, I lost my beautiful dog, Rolly, and my cat, Jess, I was diagnosed with severe depression and anixety, I contemplated suicide more times than I can count, I had way too many breakdowns, I wrote 5 books (my very first novel will never see the light of day! lol), I released my debut novel, I saw both my AFL teams win premierships in '17, '18 & '19!, I found the worlds greatest therapist...but my all time hightlight? I survived when I didn't think I'd even amke it to the end of the decade.
2019 has been a bit of a crazy year for me, I've had to continue working through my mental health issues while working on re-writing and editing my third novel. I completed my second year of Nanowrimo and completed the first draft of my fourth novel. I've also been battling a pretty severe ankle injury, but it was all worth it. It has made me stronger and it's made me appreciate the position that I'm in.
Of course the best thing to happen to me this year was adopting my sweet Archie boy. As you would all be aware now at the start of the year I was in a very bad headspace. I didn't want to be here anymore and I didn't think I had a reason to keep breathing, and then I went to the Cat Haven here in Perth, and I met a little 10-week-old ginger kitten who needed a home, and I fell in love. Fast forward to the end of the year and we have such a unique bond. Archie has changed my life, and he keeps me going when I just want to give up. I never expected to have the bond that I have with Archie, but I am so thankful that we found each other. He has the most amazing personality, he is crazy as hell, but he is also the most loving boy I've ever known. He never fails to make me smile, and while it may look like I saved him, the truth is he saved me and for that reason alone 2019 has been a wonderful year.
So what are my plans for 2020? Well, it's looking like it's going to be a big year! I'm currently in the final stages of working with my editor on my third manuscript, so I'll be making the decision about if I'm going to submit it to publishing companies or self-publishing, I'll be editing my fourth book and hopefully releasing that too, I'll of course be writing my fifth (FIFTH - OH MY LORD!) book, I'm working on my newsletter (finally!), I plan to blog more (I already have lots of ideas written down), I'm going to try to find a way to work with some mental health companies here in Perth and I have a secret project that I've been working on that'll finally be seeing the light of day. There's a lot going on, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I love to stay busy, and I'm planning on having my best year yet, so the busier the better!
On a more personal level I plan to continue working with my therapist to get my mental health back on track and I'll be working on bettering myself as a person. I'm also hoping to get over to Melbourne for a little holiday with my family and I'll be working towards preparing myself to have another ankle reconstruction.
I'm looking forward to the start of a new year, so be sure to keep an eye out on my social media pages, because I'll be announcing my secret project soon, and I can't wait for you to see what I've been working on!
Have a safe and happy new year, and thank you for your continued support throughout the year. I wouldn't be able to live my dreams out without ya'll, and I am very appreciative to have you all along for the ride with me! I love you all, and you mean the world to me! :)
All my love,
